This recipe holds a very special place in my heart as it’s one of the first things I learnt from my late mother in law. It’s a dish that everybody loves at home so much that I end up making this almost every weekend!
Today, I’d like to share this special recipe with you. It’s delicious and easy to cook.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1. 1 medium size Pomfret (cut it Long Med.slices)
2. 4-5 dried kokums (known as Garcinia purpurea) – If you can’t find this, you can add 1tsp tamarind pulp as an alternative.
3. 1/4 tsp turmeric
4. 1tsp chilli powder
5. 1tsp ginger garlic paste
6. 1 tsp chopped coriander
7.Salt to taste
1.2 tbs coriander leaves
3.6 cloves garlic
5.3tbs freshly grated coconut
Add some water to the above ingredients and grind all of them together into a fine paste.
Next, clean and wash the fish and marinate the fish with all the above ingredients. Add 1/2 of the green coconut masala paste and keep the marinated fish aside. We will use the other half of the green masala later for the curry.
Now, pour 2 tbs of oil in a heavy bottomed pan over high heat. Add 5-6 slightly crushed garlic along with its skin.
Once this has turned golden brown, add the marinated fish- wait for 3-4 mins. Toss the fish carefully- please don’t stir the fish or use a ladle because soft fish can break easily into pieces.
Now, lower the heat and add the leftover half green masala and toss it again by holding the pan from both the sides. Add 2 -3 cups of water and salt if required. Keep it on simmer for 8-10 mins.
Garnish with some chopped coriander. Your fish Curry is ready to serve!
